2008  TOP  100  TEAMS  IN  THE  NATION

Team City State Record Pvs. Next Game
1 Trinity Euless TX 1-0 1 @ Cedar Hill
The Trojans had a bye week this week following a 28-12 victory over traditional Louisiana power John Curtis on Labor Day weekend.
2 Armwood Seffner FL 2-0 2 vs Wharton
Armwood solidified their spot in the Top 5 with their always hard-nosed defense in their 9-2 victory over No. 32 Plant (FL).
3 Don Bosco Prep Ramsey NJ 0-0 3 @ St. Xavier (OH)
Don Bosco finds itself where it finished last season - ranked in the top five in the country. The Iron Men will earn it if they maintain this lofty ranking. They play at Cincinnati St. Xavier and California power De La Salle.
4 De La Salle Concord CA 0-0 4 @ Serra
Three star cornerback Kylan Butler leads the Spartans. The winner of the De La Salle - Don Bosco Prep (N.J.) matchup should have an amazing season.
5 Byrnes Duncan SC 2-0 5 vs Greer
Byrnes continued to win with a 42-20 victory over Ridgeview. They will open at home this week against Greer.
6 Bastrop Bastrop LA 0-0 6 @ Dollarway (AR)
The opener for the season for Bastrop was canceled due to weather. They take their act on the road again this week heading to Arkansas to take on Dollarway.
7 St. Thomas Aquinas Ft Lauderdale FL 2-0 7 vs Everglades - 9/18
Aquinas did not fall into a trap game with Gibbons dominating both sides of the football in a 49-3 victory Friday. They get a week off before playing Everglades - who beat Deerfield Beach in a Week One exhibition.
8 Gateway Monroeville Pa 2-0 8 @ Latrobe
Gateway is proving many critics wrong in the early going by smashing Penn Hills and Baldwin in back to back weeks. The leave the Swamp this week and head to AAA Latrobe - which only means another big victory for Gateway.
9 Plano Plano TX 2-0 9 @ Hebron
The Wildcats will take to the road this week and play at Hebron. They will need to play better to hold down the spot in the Top 10, another 28-20 win will not cut it.
10 Poly Long Beach CA 1-0 10 @ Newport Harbor - 9/15
Poly hammered Miami Northwestern 29-7 last weekend. The Jackrabbits now have another week off before battling Newport Harbor.
11 Oscar Smith Chesapeake VA 2-0 11 vs Indian River
The Tigers owned another opponent - Hickory High - this week to the tune of 44-0. In two games this season they have not allowed a point defeating teams 87-0 combined.
12 North Shore (Galena Park ) Houston TX 2-0 14 @ Cypress Falls
GP North Shore now tied the longest consecutive win streak in Texas with 72 straight. They should be able to set a new mark over the next two weeks before a huge game against previos record holder, No. 39 Southlake Carroll.
13 Lowndes Valdosta GA 2-0 16 vs Ware County
The march to a Week Six matchup with Northside Warner Robins continues as Lowndes did just enough to win 22-7 this weekend agains Peachtree Ridge.
14 Deerfield Beach Deerfield Bch FL 1-0 15 @ Ely
The Bucks proved that exhibition games mean nothing bouncing back from an Everglades exhibtion loss to roll 43-7 against Hollywood Hills.
15 Hamilton Chandler AZ 2-0 26 @ Centennial
Stock Rising Hamilton regains the top spot in Arizona with a 10-0 win over No. 87 Brophy. Two very nice wins out of the gates for the Huskies another big game against No. 82 Centennial.
16 Apopka Apopka FL 1-0 17 vs Freedom
The Blue Darters earned a 33-14 victory this weekend. They have one more tuneup game with Freedom before they take on Mississippi's best No. 17 South Panola.
17 South Panola Batesville MS 2-0 18 vs Grenada
The nations longest winning streak continues against pretty weak competition from Clarksdale. Apopka (Fl.), Olive Branch, and Tupelo will be the three games that could end the streak.
18 Centennial Corona CA 0-0 19 @ Chaparral
Centennial nearly knocked off De La Salle in last year's State Bowl Championship, and nothing less than a return trip will do for the Huskies. Vontaze Burfict is back after leading the team with 162 tackles, four sacks and two interceptions in 2007.
19 Edison Fresno CA 1-0 21 @ Dominguez
Fresno Edison got off to a hot start winning 69-10 this week. They will need to keep their eyes focused this week as Dominguez is certainly no pushover.
20 Timpview Provo UT 3-0 22 @ Payson -9/19
Timpview is the first ranked team to 3-0 with another defensively dominated 28-3 victory. They take a week off before taking on Payson on the 19th.
21 Glenville Academic Campus Cleveland OH 3-0 24 @ South
Glenville takes over the top spot in Ohio this week. The tough parts of their schedule is over it is just about keeping their heads and taking care of business.
22 Colerain Cincinnati OH 3-0 23 @ Princeton
Colerain drops just behind Glenville in Ohio despite a solid victory over Ft. Thomas Highlands. Two more victories over Princeton and Sycamore and the Cardinals will reclaim that top spot.
23 Stone Bridge Ashburn VA 2-0 25 @ Marshall
Stone Bridge will take their show on the road for the first time this season. After two fairly convincing wins we do not expect heading to Marshall will be anything other than another notch in the win column.
24 St. Xavier Cincinnati OH 2-1 27 vs Don Bosco (NJ)
St. X seems to be getting their legs back underneath them with two stright impressive team wins. A 17-3 win has them ready to go against No. 3 Don Bosco Prep (NJ).
25 Pahokee Pahokee FL 1-1 35 @ Kings Academy
Stock Rising Okay, so they took the starters out too early in the Olive Branch game and lost, but with the starters in they were up 27. This week the Blue Devils take care of business in all four quarters 44-3.
26 Mater Dei Santa Ana CA 1-0 31 vs Cyrpess
Matt Barkley led his team to a comeback, overtime victory over Carson. They will need to figure out a kicking game or it will certainly cost them at some point.
27 Prattville Prattville AL 1-1 33 @ Benjamin Russell
The Lions got into the win column with an easy 31-0 roll over a solid Robert E. Lee team. Still has one circled game with Brentwood Academy (TN) for Homecoming in three weeks.
28 Punahou Honolulu HI 3-0 36 @ St. Louis
Punahou is set to play St. Louis (HI) after a several tune up games including this weeks 42-19 victory.
29 Stony Point Round Rock TX 2-0 38 @ Waco
This may be a bit high for Stony Point, however they have looked like a solid football team so far this season.
30 St. Xavier Louisville KY 2-0 28 @ Lexington Catholic
We feel good having St. Xavier in this Top 30 range for most of the season. They are a solid football team, but we will need to see them against Male, Manual and Trinity to make any moves with the Tigers.
31 Skyline Issaquah WA 1-0 29 vs Ballard
A convincing 21-0 win over defending Oregon 6A champion Sheldon keeps our faith in Skyline.
32 Plant Tampa FL 1-1 32 @ Gaither
A 9-2 loss to No. 2 Armwood is nothing to punish the Panthers over. The defense played better than expected, but the offensive line did not.
33 Allen Allen TX 2-0 41 @ Rockwall
Allen played one of the best in Mexico this week beating Monterrey Tech 55-15. This is probably just a placeholder for Allen as they could certainly see two losses soon against No. 1 Trinity and No. 9 Plano.
34 Montgomery Bell Academy Nashville TN 3-0 40 @ Hillsboro
MBA fought off the long busride to Chattanooga to defeat Baylor School 14-3. They do not have to leave Middle Tennessee the rest of the season - and may not lose either.
35 Mission Viejo Mission Viejo CA 1-0 39 @ Redondo
A nice trip to the Hawaiian Islands may have been a special treat to Mission Viejo, but they got to business and won 48-21. They took a week off before putting on the pads against Redondo.
36 Los Alamitos Los Alamitos CA 0-0 42 vs Mayfair
Like many top programs in California, the Griffins have a quarterback who is DI material. Clark Evans, a Colorado commit, will have plenty of time to get into a groove before a late October showdown with Huntington Beach Edison.
37 Crespi Encino CA 1-0 44 @ Birmingham
Crespi got the win last week, 30-13 over Northridge (Ut.), but they did not look good doing it. The Celts started out very slow and did not look like they were interested in play the game until late. They get back to action this week with Birmingham.
38 Lakeland Lakeland FL 1-0 48 @ South Dade
Stock Rising Following a 35-0 thrashing of Pittsburgh (Pa.) Central Catholic the Dreadnaughts make an immediate jump into the national Top 50.
39 Phoebus Hampton VA 2-0 46 @ Woodside
Phoebus owned Bethel 52-0. The game was moved to Monday due to weather, not that it helped Bethel.
40 Carroll Southlake TX 2-0 51 vs Bellaire
The Dragons are now 2-0 and using physical defense to do it. They have outsocerd opponents 79-17 in two games. They need to be ready to tangle with Flower Mound and North Shore.
41 West Monroe West Monroe LA 0-0 52 vs Huntington
West Monroe has some things to prove in Louisiana this season, but having one of the best LBs in the country will help its case. Four-star prospect Barkevious Mingo should help rack up the wins.
43 Our Lady Of Good Counsel Wheaton Md 1-0 56 @ Dunbar
Jelani Jenkins paces Good Counsel, and this week it was good enough for a 42-12 victory.
44 Thomas Jefferson Jefferson Hills PA 1-1 58 @ Trinity
After a disappointing season opening loss to Glenville the Jaguars get right with a 43-7 whipping of Uniontown.
45 Desert Vista Phoenix AZ 0-1 12 @ Mesa
Stock Falling A risky pick with Desert Vista as the No.1 team in Arizona quickly backfired. A 28-7 loss to Gilbert has them dropping fast. A few more big games will see where they settle out to.
46 Lake Travis Austin TX 2-0 20 vs Cedar Park
Stock Falling Even with a win over a 5A team we had to be honest with the rankings and acknowledge that Lake Travis would not compete week in and week out with the Big Boys. Evangel Christian (LA) will be a great game to watch in two weeks.
47 Mt. Carmel Chicago IL 2-0 45 vs Providence Catholic
Mt. Carmel is slowly convincing us that this is their year. A 55-3 whipping of St. Ignatius (IL) is a good start to the season. We will find out if they are ready for the spotlight when they play St. Rita Sept. 19.
48 Maryville Maryville TN 3-0 49 vs Heritage
The Rebels will continue to thump weak East Tennessee competition and will continue to find it hard to move out of the 40-50 range. Beating Clinton 38-16 doesn't impress very much.
49 Northside School Warner Robins GA 2-0 63 @ Carver
Stock Rising The Eagles handed No. 76 Booker T. Washington (FL) their second straight loss 24-7. NSWR will have to be ready for Valdosta and Lowndes in the next four weeks.
50 Skyline Dallas TX 2-0 NR @ Bowie
A 27-0 win over Kimball puts Dallas Skyline in a great place nationally. The Raiders can confirm their status as the top team in Dallas with the continued success.
51 Northwestern Miami FL 1-1 54 @ Homestead
Northwestern has issues on offense as they only managed 14 points against Carol City. They have to head on the road this week to Homestead and it could be another telling game for the Bulls.
52 Central Catholic Pittsburgh PA 1-1 57 @ Mt. Lebanon
The Vikings escaped with a 17-13 win, and the game was as close as the score. PCC is rebuilding but will need to get things figured out before Upper St. Clair in two weeks.
53 Quince Orchard North Potomac MD 0-0 59 @ Wootton
Winning the Class 4 state title last year certainly was an achievement for Quince Orchard. Going back-to-back would be exponentially better. Having three of the top nine players in the state will help the team's cause.
54 Union Tulsa OK 0-1 13 vs Jenks
Stock Falling Tulsa Unionlost a head scratcher to Broken Arrow. It is only a guess but they may have been looking forward to a showdown with Jenks this week.
55 O'Dea Seattle WA 1-0 61 @ West Seattle - 9/19
O'Dea - who may have the most talent in Washington - just barely got by Capital 14-13.
56 North Miami Beach N Miami Beach FL 1-0 64 vs Killian
The Chargers made an opening statement by beating Miami Northwestern in the spring game, they then earned some of that attention when it counted with a 48-12 win over Jackson.
57 Edison Huntington Beach CA 2-0 68 @ Dana Hills - 9/19
The Chargers made the scoreboard operator earn their keep this weekend with a 42 point second quarter en route to a 63-8 victory.
58 Jenks Jenks OK 1-0 55 @ Union
Fresh off of another 6A state title, Jenks opened the season with a 44-7 win over Bixby. They also looked a lot better than rival Union. We will see who is the best in Oklahoma this week as the two square off.
59 Buford Buford GA 2-0 69 vs Lovett
Stock Rising Buford looked very good (again) in winning 45-14. They beat a solid North Hall team 45-14 and did just about everything right.
60 Rockhurst Kansas City MO 2-0 65 vs Blue Springs
The Rocklets beat the best team in Kansas, Hutchinson, this week 28-21. They play Blue Springs next week before facing off against one of the best in Colorado, Mullen.
61 Bear Creek Lakewood CO 2-0 67 vs Chatfield
Bear Creek may be a risk pick at No. 61, especially with very talented teams in Colorado, but we like the talent they have on the field - and that they keep hanging 47 points on opponents.
62 St. Joseph's Philadelphia PA 2-0 70 @ North Penn
St. Joseph's is living on the edge with a 7-6 win over St. Anthony's. Starting 2-0 with a combined 27-19 is not inspiring.
63 Coldwater Coldwater OH 3-0 73 vs Marion Local
Stock Rising In three games this season Coldwater is outscoring opponents 148-26. That's good.
64 Central Pickerington OH 3-0 NR @ Lancaster
Pickerington Central has given up a total of 6 points in three games. That defense gets them attentiona, and national ranking.
65 Saguaro Scottsdale AZ 1-0 77 vs Sahuaro
A lot of respect has been gained by Arizona football recently, and some of that respect has to be given to back-to-back Class 4AI champ Saguaro. Of course winning opening week 56-0 helps too.
66 Madison Madison FL 0-0 78 vs Arlington Country Day
Madison County returns 14 starters - including the top player in the state, Jacobbi McDaniel - from a team that went 14-1 and won the state championship last season. The only thing holding them back nationally is that they don't play the Miami area teams.
67 Westfield Houston TX 1-0 NR @ West Brook
A very impressive 42-27 victory over Cy Falls gets this team into the Top 100.
68 South Pointe Rock Hill SC 2-0 85 @ Clover
Stock Rising South Pointe did nothing to deter us from picking them as No. 2 in South Carolina demolishing Farifield Central on the road, 43-12. They take on Clover this week for a measuring stick game.
69 St. Ignatius Cleveland OH 2-1 71 @ Mentor
St. Ignatius took it to Canisius (NY) 40-0, showing New York state what Ohio football is all about.
70 East Grand Rapids Grand Rapids MI 2-0 72 @ Kenowa Hills
East Grand Rapids looked good once again with another 49 point production game winning 49-21 on the road against Forest Hills Central.
71 Upland Upland CA 1-0 75 @ Glendora
Lead by Josh Nunes the Scots opened the year with a 42-7 win on the road at Colony.
72 Olive Branch Olive Branch MS 1-1 34 @ Treadwell
Stock Falling After coming back to beat Pahokee second teamers two weeks ago, Olive Branch could not get it back in gear losing 29-22 to Memphis University. They are now back to where we thought they would be this season.
73 Trinity Louisville KY 1-0 74 @ Butler
Four-star linebacker Jordan Whiting is one of the best in the country and he lead the Shamrocks to a 17-0 win in their first game action this week.
74 Permian Odessa TX 2-0 NR @ Monterey
Are the Mojo really back? So far so good, but that Lee game will once again produce some fireworks.
75 Birmingham Van Nuys CA 0-1 37 vs Crespi
The Patriots looked like they lost focus in their 29-28 loss to Garfield. They can make good with a win against traditional slow starting Crespi.
76 Booker T. Washington Miami FL 0-2 43 @ Central
Stock Falling An 0-2 team in the Top 100, really? Yes. Booker T. has lost to Hamilton, Ariz. and Northside Warner Robins, Georgia. They were also in the hands of the back up quarterback. They will fall out if they do not look a lot better against Central this week.
77 St. Bonaventure Ventura CA 1-0 76 @ Atascadero
St. Bonaventure is lead by uber-talented player in five-star athlete Patrick Hall. They opened with a 35-14 win. Still has to play Poly and Crespi back to back.
78 Eden Prairie Eden Prairie MN 2-0 62 vs Lakeview North
Stock Falling We are now thinking Eden Prarie may not be the best team in Minnesota. And have to adjust their ranking accordingly.
79 Destrehan Destrehan LA 0-0 82 @ St. James
Destrehan made an impressive run in 2007 and ended the year 15-0 with the 5A state championship. However, in 2008 they must deal with the loss of many of their top players. They return only five starters on offense. Fortunately, four of the returners are on the offensive line.
80 Cairo Cairo GA 1-0 88 @ Munroe
Cairo finally got out on the field after a weather postponement of their opener and they did not disappoint in a 28-6 win.
81 Servite Anaheim CA 1-0 89 @ Clovis West
The Friars do not have a long list of superstar players but they get the job done. They won 41-6 this week and ready themselves for battle against Clovis West.
82 Centennial Peoria AZ 1-0 93 @ Hamitlon
The Coyotes are working to a three peat in 5AII, and have to go through No. 15 Hamilton this week.
83 Carmel Carmel IN 3-0 87 @ South Vigo
Carmel did not look good escaping 33-32 over Center Grove this week. It was their first road game, but still need to do a better job.
84 McKeesport Mckeesport PA 1-1 96 @ Connelsville
Following an overtime loss to Colerain (OH), McKeesport opened play in the WPIAL in a big way beating Plum down 55-0.
85 Millard South Omaha NE 2-0 91 @
The Patriots were able to get out of Omaha with a win 27-24 over Westside.
86 Meridian Meridian MS 2-0 97 @ Wayne County
Meridian avoided a hangover performance by dominating Starkville 34-7. With plenty of upsets around Mississippi this week Meridian got the job done.
87 Brophy Prep Phoenix AZ 1-1 94 @ Horizon
With Bishop Gorman (NV) and in state power Hamilton for the first two games of the season a 1-1 record is about what was expected. A 10-0 loss to Hamilton is not a bad loss as long as they rebound against Horizon.
88 Booker T. Washington Tulsa OK 1-0 66 vs East Central
Stock Falling While it may not be fair but you are judged by the company you keep and with the way Union looked this week the whole of Oklahoma is questioned - even if you win 40-7 like Booker T. did.
89 McGill Toolen Mobile AL 3-0 NR @ Robertsdale
McGill Toolen started slow with a 2-0 victory but have gotten progressively better.
90 Muskegon Muskegon MI 2-0 NR @ Holland West
Muskegon made a huge statement with a 42-27 win - although it was 42-7 to start the fourth quarter. The West in Michigan is proving each week to be stronger than the East.
91 Har-Ber Springdale AR 1-0 83 @ Alma
The scrappy Wildcats got a big victory 45-15 to open their season. This may be the best team in Arkansas in 2008.
92 Sycamore Cincinnati OH 2-0 80 vs Hamitlon
Lower level competition is fueling a belief this team is one to beat in Cincinatti. Colerain is coming up, and we shall see.
93 Alta Sandy UT 3-0 NR @ Hunter
Alta is looking as good as ever and makes their debut in the RivalsHigh 100. They take on Sacramento Grant in a few weeks.
94 Independence Charlotte NC 1-0 84 vs West Charlotte
Due to weather the game to judge Independence on was canceled as they didn't get to play Madison County (FL).
95 Wayzata Plymouth MN 2-0 NR @ Robinsdale Armstrong
There may be a changing of the guard in Minnesota. After dominating Minnetonka Wayzata is making a run at Eden Prairie.
96 Grant Sacramento CA 1-0 86 @ Highland
Grant is the best team in Sacramento, but does it belong in the discussion for the top 100 teams in the country?
97 Mayfield Las Cruces NM 2-0 NR @ Carlsbad
Mayfield is the most talented team in New Mexico this season. They will try to keep winning until the huge rivalry matchup with Las Cruces.
98 Maine South Park Ridge IL 2-0 98 @ Glenbrook North
The Hawks won their first game while in the RivalsHigh 100, 35-21. They will have to earn this spot each and every week.
99 Arrowhead Hartland WI 2-0 99 @ West
The best in Wisconsin Division I flexed their muscle early and often in their 55-0 win. They have now outscored opponents 96-12 in two games.
100 Bellevue Bellevue WA 1-0 100 @ California
Bellevue is one of the best teams in the state of Washington almost every season. They opened with a 41-13 victory and looked fairly impressive doing it.

DROPPED OUT: Former No. 30 Wichita Falls (TX) Rider, No. 47 Inkster (MI), No. 53 Katy (TX), No. 60 Mentor (OH), No. 79 Naples (FL), No. 81 Dallas (TX) Carter, No. 90 Cretin Durham-Hall (MN), No. 92 Hutchinson (KS), No. 95 Abilene (TX)
